Behind The Lens
Location
On the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I was taking photos of the "Chinaman's Hat" and walking along the beach when I decided to take this close up of this bluish colored coral.Time
This was taken around mid day as my family and I had decided to stop our trip around the island of Oahu for a break to stretch our legs.Lighting
The sun was extremely bright so I went with a faster shutter speed. Because of the brightness of the sun I could not get the shallow depth of field that I was going for so I had to compensate a little with the focal length.Equipment
Nikon d5100. Nikkor lens 70-300mm f/4. Exposure 1/320 @ f8. ISO 100. Focal length 100.Inspiration
I was taking photo of the "China man's Hat" on Oahu, Hawaii and walking along the beach when I noticed the bluish tinge to the coral and decided to try some macro shots.Editing
Cropped to focus on the bluish coral. In my camera bag
I always carry with me my Nikon d5100 with the 70-300 mm f4 and 18-55 mm f 3.5 with a polarized filter. I recently added a Canon EOS Rebel T3i with the 18-55 mm IS Macro lens. Lens cleaners and extra batteries and memory cards.Feedback
I always try to look around for anything that captures my eye. Whether it is something small on the ground or something up high. Basically, I try to capture images of things around me that "speaks to me".
