Excellent composition! Great idea going with B&W too, it brings out the detail in the wood and the reflections :)

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Tybee Island in Savannah, GA under the pier. This was my first attempt at time lapse photography and using a 10-Stop filter.

Time

I went to the beach in the early afternoon on a chilly Spring afternoon and shot this around 3 o'clock.

Lighting

The sun was high an unencumbered by clouds; however, I took this photograph under the shade of the pier so it allowed me to do a 2/1 shutter speed quite easily with a low ISO of 80.

Equipment

Pentax DSLR camera, 18-55 kit lens (this photo used around 50mm), tripod, 10-stop filter, wireless remote shutter clicker

Inspiration

I had always wanted to shoot time lapse photography to capture not just a moment in time but a memory in time.

Editing

I used Adobe Lightroom to increase the clarity and contrast to make the blacks more vivid and the whites more surreal.

In my camera bag

At this point I have ceased to use my 18-55 kit lens and have opted for a couple primes which I took with me on my last trip to Tokyo earlier this year. This includes a 50mm, 14mm, and a 21mm.

Feedback

Use a tripod, and camera clicker to avoid any moving or shaking that could distort what you hope to capture. Play around with your aperture and how long you leave the shutter open so as to make sure you can capture exactly what you're after.
