While my 3.5 year old daughter was playing in the field behind our house, burying her feet, and "planting" flowers, I was lucky to capture this image of her as she sprawled out to enjoy the sun on her face. Country living... there really is nothing better.

superb capture! indeed there is nothing better than country life! my 3 year old daughter, when we went to the country side for a couple of weeks said each and every day: what a sweet life! and no one taught her, it came from her tiny heart! fresh air, and playing in the dirt... I remember those days when I was a child, too! and always with a smile on my face!

Location
This photo was taken just outside our home in the Texas panhandle.Time
It was early afternoon.Lighting
Luckily I had some clouds that diffused the light just perfectly at just the right time.Equipment
This photo was shot with my Nikon D5100 and 35mm f/1.8 lens.Inspiration
My daughter was playing in the field in the freshly plowed dirt behind our home. She was digging, burying her feet, and "planting" flowers. She sprawled out to enjoy the sun. I was in the right place at the right time- all I did was tell her to cross her ankles, and "don't move." I was also wearing my then-6-month-old in an Ergo carrier on my chest- so getting low enough to get this shot was tricky :-)Editing
I always post process my images. I did my basic enhancements- contrast, highlights, blacks, etc. I also enhanced the sky and cloned out a few stalks near her legs.In my camera bag
I always have my camera, of course :-) Depending on what I'm shooting, I'll pack a variety of lenses... but if I could only pick one to shoot pretty much anything that might find itself in front of my camera, I'd choose the Sigma 50mm ART. I also always have a 5 in 1 reflector and usually a speedlight or two.Feedback
This photo was one part skill, one part luck. It wasn't planned or posed- I just happened to have this wonderful scene fall in front of my lens, and I was lucky enough to be the one to turn the dials and click the shutter.
