Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in our front yard in early spring a year after moving in to our new home. We did not know that the crocuses were there, as they had already faded when we first moved in.

Time

The photo was taken around noon time. The area was always shaded, so light was not a problem.

Lighting

The camera was set on landscape mode and no flash. Everything else was set on auto.

Equipment

I used a Sony Alpha DSLR-A230 camera with a Tamron 18-200 lens. That's all. The camera was placed on the ground to get a low shot.

Inspiration

I was playing around with the camera and wanted to see using macro and other settings would get me. I also like to capture flowers and other plants. Now, our front yard has been redone and the crocuses are no longer. So, I have a great picture of something that once was.

Editing

I did some cropping and minor exposure adjustment. Other than that, the photo is as it came out of the camera. I think using landscape mode really helped with the colors.

In my camera bag

I have a Sony Alpha DSLR-A230 body, two Tamron lenses - an 18-200 and a 70-300 plus some filters, extra batteries, a tripod, a monopod and cleaning supplies...that's it! Addendum: Since taking this picture I have added a Sony ILCA-68 and Sony 18-55 and 55-300 lenses with aux flash and filters.
