LOVE this. I am a sucker for skylines ... and this one is absolutely one of my favorites ... the water looks like ice ... makes it look like you can just walk right across it to get to the city ... Love it ...

Location
This photo is taken from a place where I think you can appreciate Manhattan Skyline best. Right next to Chart House restaurant in Weehawken, New Jersey.Time
I was coming from a photo shoot, I was very tired. I remember falling in love with this magnificent view maybe the 500th time. I stopped the car and took out my equipment. It was 9pm, I was tired but I wouldn`t let go without taking a shotLighting
New York City lights are magical. But you need to be there at the right time. If it`s too early, it`ll be to bright. If it`s too late, it`ll be too dark and details on buildings will be hard to bring out.Equipment
This was shot with Nikon D600 and my favorite lens Nikon 50mm f1.8. Of course my 2 favorite equipment: tripod which essential for any long exposure shot and cable releaseInspiration
I never get tired of taking picture of Manhattan Skyline. But I don`t like repeating myself. I wanted to be different again on this photo.Editing
This panoramic photo is combination of 3 shots. I edited with Lightroom and Photoshop. While showing detail between buildings I wanted foreground to be interesting too.In my camera bag
Not just my backpack, my cars trunk is filled with photography equipment all the time. In my backpack, I have my main camera D800; lenses: 85mm * 24-85mm * 50mm; 2 of SB700 speedlights. In my trunk, I have umbrellas, reflector, light stands and softboxes.Feedback
If you want to photograph Manhattan skyline, be where you wanna take the shot before the sunset. You will see amazing light show while sun is going down. And it doesn`t finish when the sun is down. That`s where the action starts. You need a lens that will give gorgeous start effect. Nikon 24-85mm is perfect for that. Also have a sturdy tripod and cable release. Don`t settle with in-camera timer. It only takes up to 30sec.
