When it comes to natural light photography, often "golden hours"rule comes to play. The “golden hours†refer to the window of time when the sun is at its lowest point in the sky, just before it sets or right after it rises .Often, photographers may overlook this rule as its primerely applies to the landscape photography, one may think. Uniqueness of this light, transforms your images into a beautiful capture. This photograph was taken just an hour before sunset. It helped to produce strong shadows and highlights, but increase the texture of an image as well.Lighting
In this particular image,i place a model between the camera and sun. In this backlit situation, i was aiming to create more drama, separate my subject from the background. Also, most of the times, i filter the backlight through the trees, tall grass etc to avoid hazy looks or washed out effects, unless it intended that way.Equipment
This was shot on Canon 5D MarkII with Canon 70-200 2.8L IS II lens. The reason for this particular lens choice is compression, its more flattering to your subject. White reflector placed in front to fill the shadows.Inspiration
I originally wanted to shoot in the urban environment. After arriving at the location, i realised that the existing light wasn't good enough to shoot without help of strobe. Then i saw a beautiful park nearby, so that i was able to control the lighting more efficiently. By placing the model in a shade, open sky behind me will create a beautiful lighting fall on the models face.Editing
In this particular case, i decided to convert image into B&W. By increasing contrast, it allows the photo to pop out more. But usually, i always trying to get it right in the camera, so that i will have more time to spend with my family rather than in Photoshop.In my camera bag

Learn the light, master it. Use reflectors that are already exist , white wall of the building, for example, or white track that parked on the side of the road. By placing you subject facing the white wall etc., lighting will be more flattering to the models face. In the harsh lighting conditions, find an open shade. Avoid open sky behind the model, it works best when open sky behind you. Aim to get everything right in the camera, composition, framing, cropping, white balance, etc., so you will not need to correct your mistakes later.
