Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken late morning in my back yard. We had not long got Poppy and she was busy exploring the big wide world. What is so special about this photo? She is looking in a pot full of mint that my mother had been growing. Sadly not long before this photo, she passed away so for me it has special meaning.

Time

This was shot about 11-11.30am in the morning.

Lighting

I think I was very lucky lighting wise, the Sun was in a good spot and I didn't need to move - otherwise I would probably missed the shot.

Equipment

This was taken on my my Sony a55 - I had not long had the camera and was taking every opportunity to play and learn. I used my 17-50mm lens. And of course I had to get down low for this shot.

Inspiration

I really wanted to get a good timeline of Poppy as she grew up. Being so tiny and cute, who could resist her! So wherever she went, I was there with my camera trying to get the perfect shot. I was so happy when I snapped this one of her. It shows how cute she is and how inquisitive she is.

Editing

In my camera bag

I carry my Sony a65, 17-50mm lens, wide angle lense, 50-300 mm lense, my macro lense, flash and all the other little bits and bobs - cleaning cloth, SD cards, filters etc

Feedback

My advice would be to take your camera EVERYWHERE... even just out in the back yard and always be on the look and ready to take a photo. Be prepared to get dirty from lying on the ground or other area's. With animals, they are so quick so trying and pre-empt what they are going to do. Most of all - HAVE FUN!
