This northern California beach disclosed a salmagundi of provocative detritus that I just had to combine them in a tableau that exemplifies the seashore. This photo was actually taken on the slate-hued sand on the beach, but it is intriguing how obvious, at this macro range, that the velvety aqueousness of beach sand is actually tiny pebbles. This is just some of the wonderment the Pacific ocean shrouds in her enigmatic depths. —A. deLeeuw
