Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Atlantic City, New Jersey during the 2013 Atlantic City Airshow. I always bring my camera to big events like airshows as there are always great oppotunities to press the shutter in such events.

Time

My brother and I were walking on the boardwalk at around 9AM when we stumbled upon a show where they lured customers in for pictures with the beautiful ladies...for a fee. Yes, my brother and I paid to have them surround us for a picture. But this particular photo was taken afterwards - no fee. Thanks to my 200mm Nikkor lens.

Lighting

It greatly helped that we found this precious gem in the morning. Not too overcast yet sun was not too harsh.

Equipment

I used my trusty Nikon D90 with my 70-200mm VR Nikkor lens stablized with my proline monopod

Inspiration

Skin! Skin! Skin! That's the wonder of summer days and this day was no exception!

Editing

Cropping and minor exposure and white balance correction.

In my camera bag

My mobile kit is usually comprised of my Nikon D90, 18mm-50mm Sigma lens for wide shots, 70mm-200mm Nikkor for 'sniping', SB-600 Flash gun and Proline Monopod for the dirty works!

Feedback

Think journalistic. You will never get the same shot twice. There's also no shame is shooting auto exposure mode (specially when shooting raw) as you can always adjust in post. I'm not saying you shouldn't master your camera setting and become familiar with exposure. But in this situation, the most important thing is HAVE FUN!!!
