Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at a restaurant that was had a lot of antique furniture. This was in a town called Heidelberg near Johannesburg South Africa. There is a lot of history attached to it.Time
This photo was taken on 12/5/2012 at about 9.00am.It was early morning and no direct sunlight yet from the windows.Lighting
The lamp was part of a display of antique furniture and the light from the lamp just gave the place the right atmosphere.Equipment
Photo was taken with Nikon D7100 with Nikon 18-105 VR lens.No flash or tripod was used.Pushed ISO to 1600 to get high enough shutter speed of 1/00 f5 to take photo hand held without getting camera shake.Flash would have spoiled the photo.Inspiration
The lamp just blended in very nicely with the surrounding antiques and just gave it that special feel.Editing
Post processing was done on with Lightroom and converted to B&W and given sepia look to give it that aged affect. In my camera bag
Exchanged D7000 for D7100,Nikon 18-105VR lens,Nikon 12-24 lens,Nikon 70-300 VR lens,Sb900 flash.Feedback
Be creative.Dont be scared to do something beyond the norm, break the rules. When doing still life photos try and put the right atmosphere in the photo to give it impact.
