Behind The Lens
Location
I took this picture outside my home on an out-of-character snowy North Carolina afternoon. I love the way a lantern looks when it is kissed with snow!Time
This picture was taken in late afternoon, before dusk, in the grey day that gave way to this covering of fresh snow.Lighting
I like the slightly dark, foreboding feeling of the late afternoon light on a stormy day. The snow had stopped but seemed to still threaten as day ebbed into twilight.Equipment
I used a Canon Rebel with no flash or other augments.Inspiration
I am from Maine and am inspired by snow. Living in the Southeastern US doesn't afford me many snow-days, so this particular sight compelled me to capture it.Editing
No post-processing generally. In my camera bag
I am lucky to have my bag nearby! I usually carry my Canon and a macro-lens that I am still playing around with.Feedback
As an amateur, I feel unsuited to give advice but I would say that you must carry that camera to get that shot. I can't remember all the times that I wished I had my camera, and didn't. I now try to take it wherever I go.
