on my way thru the park today this little guy smacked into a van and flew thru my window into the passenger seat...1st i thought he was dead until those little arms started moving..I tried everything i could think of to help revive the little guy even tried to feed it some veggies...its tail was cracked open, one leg completely screwed,one wing destroyed..after seeing that little arm reach for my finger though i didnt want to stop maybe i shouldve just squashed it but i couldnt so i perched it in one of the bushes and left it for Nature's natural course
didnt know what else to do :(

interesting question. Its actually a green head there are many different species of flies that resemble horse flies now horse flies in particualr will only go after animals. but they have distinct relatives that will bite humans. what differs them from each other are sometimes a different coat or the color of the eyes this one here was a greenhead. Luckily i had my gloves on handling him seeing how they are one of the biggest carriers of animal diseases. Truthfully i only know about these guys becAUSE I WAS sick of photographing all these insects and not knowing what they were that i went out and got some insect identification books.
