Nice one;)

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Flamingoland in North Yorkshire.

Time

It was mid afternoon on a bright but overcast day.

Lighting

The day was bright but the cloud cover meant that the light was fairly soft and even

Equipment

My first Dslr. A Canon1000D with a Tamron 70-300 lens set at 160mm and f4.5 The use was set at 400

Inspiration

I was having a coffee when this Peacock strolled past trying to impress the Peahens. He made a couple of passes shaking his feathers and strutting his stuff.

Editing

I cropped the picture down to cut out the background and focus on this magnificent bird . Then I boosted the saturation slightly and sharpened the image

In my camera bag

Currently I use a Canon 70d with the kit 18-50 lens and my Tamron 70-300mm I also carry a Yongnuo flash and a selection of filters (ND and polariser)

Feedback

When photographing animals it’s just a question of patience. I watch them for a while to try an anticipate their movements and then try to find a good location to capture a shot
