Michelangelo's sculpture of Laocoon and his two sons, Antiphantes and Tymbraeus, depicts the attack of sea serpents that were allegedly sent by Poseidon. Laocoon tried to warn that the Trojan Horse was a ruse, however, the Trojans interpreted the depicted serpent attack as proof that the Horse was a sacred object. The statute was unearthed in 1506 and now resides in the Musei Vaticani.
