Location
This was shot near Coulter Lake Guest Ranch in the Rifle, Colorado area. We think of it as the Aspen Cathedral.Time
I don't remember. Probably either mid-morning or mid-afternoon.Lighting
Broad daylight isn't always the sweetest lighting, but I think being in the shade of the aspens helped in this case.Equipment
I don't remember. It was a point-and-shoot digital of some kind.Inspiration
Looking up, I noticed the majesty of this incredibly tall and beautiful tree. The creative power of God inspires many of my photos.Editing
I don't remember what I did for this particular photo, but my cameras are not high-end, so I usually have to do a slight adjustment of lighting, contrast and color/saturation.In my camera bag
I'm pretty minimalist, as many of my photos are shot while walking on the beach or horseback riding in the mountains. I just carry my camera, extra batteries, a mini-tripod, my iPhone and collapsible selfie stick (aka monopod!).Feedback
Seek a different perspective, a fresh angle. Look up, look down. Lie your belly and see what things look like from there. In some types of pictures, symmetry is beautiful. Other times, balance without symmetry is more aesthetic. Just experiment!
