Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo at a wedding in Temecula, CA. I had always wanted to do wedding photography, however the enormous risks of not capturing someones special day, led me to bring my camera as a guest...and asking people for a photo.Time
It was a Saturday mid morning, around 11 am, I remember because the Bride was late...to her own wedding...she arrived around 20 minutes late!Lighting
The lighting was strange because it was mid summer, without any clouds in Southern California..so lighting was pretty awful. I was able to have some natural diffusion while the sun was cast through a group of trees...allowing me to get this shot.Equipment
I used a Canon T3i with a Tamron 18-270 mm lens. Nothing fancy, but ones equipment can only take you so far.Inspiration
I saw a family that was radiant with personality and demanding visual attention. As a guest at a wedding, I found it intriguing to capture the candidness of other guests.Editing
The T3i creates a lot of noise, so that had to be adjusted. Chromatic Abrasion is another issue. Small increase in contrast and color saturation, and that's it.In my camera bag
Fujifilm x20 has been my go to camera lately, even over my Canon 5d Mark III. I like the small scale and magnesium body, allowing you to stay under the radar while photographing in public. People look at your different when you have a huge DSLR pointing at them. I appreciate the more candid response.Feedback
Take as many photos as you can. Also, stay in the moment, turn off your image review on your LCD, and just concentrate on the subject in real time.
