Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in eastern Oregon about nine miles south of a small town called Grass valley, it was at a old homestead, for yrs I drove past this homestead and wondered about the people how lived there a hundred yrs ago, its also was wt started my passion for photography and my obsession with very old abandon building, it was won of my first photos of a modern ruin, several of my photos on ViewBug fetcher the out building and old house on this homestead. The sad news is this homestead has Ben torn down never to be photographed again wiped a way from the face of this earth.

Time

I photographed this windmill silhouette very early in the morning maybe 6am looking east the sun was just rising it was a o-some site, this area is desert and tumbleweed no trees and very dry.

Lighting

I still have a lot to learning about lighting, I use natural lighting most of my photography is out side.

Equipment

my Camera is a Nikon D'5100 whith a AF-NIKKOR 55 -200MM1:4-5.6G ED Lens, no tripod and no flash

Inspiration

The windmill is the first thing you see on the horizon from the road, then your eyes rests on the homestead, I've past buy this window thru time, over a thousands times, wen I was a Truck Driver I always made a point to routed my self past this homestead, just to see it and dream about the past it was won of the reasons I wanted to buy a camera and tech my self the art of Digital photography. Won day I left home in my car and mad a trip with my new camera just to get a photo of this homestead, it was early in the morning and wen I got to the homestead the sun was just coming up and I got out of my car and this beautiful silhouette of this windmill took my berth a way and I had to capture its image before the sun came all the way up the rest of the morning I spent photographing the homestead wat a grate day it was.

Editing

Wen I bout my camera I also bout the Adobe Photoshop Element 11 I had no clue how to use this program so, like my camera I taught myself how to use this program and I figured out how to enhance the color and focus a little bit on this windmill photo, and I have sens discovered that I rely like to experiment with all the filter that I can and try to tern my photos in to a form of Art, I'm still learning new way to be creative with my photography.

In my camera bag

The equipment that I keep with me at all times is my camera and two lens, I will take the best photos that I can from for or five different angles multiple time and then down load them on my computer, the reason for several photos of the same image is so I can experiment with different effects and try to create a nice work of art.

Feedback

Don't be afraid to thank out side of the box, take your photo from every angle you can, when you go to edit, study your photo and fined the image you like delete the rest, most editing programs will hi lite the parts of your photo that you want to keep so you can form a image in you mind that stands out you will also discover new things in your photo you did not see wen you first capture the image.
