My boyfriend's friend invited us to his 60th birthday party that was held in a community center in Long Island. I do not enjoy events with large groups, especially when I am surrounded by strangers. But I went out of respect. And as with most of these types of events, I tend to be more of an observer than a participant. So, as I was observing my surroundings, I noticed the patterns created on a wall by a row of light sconces. It caught my attention. So, I captured the image with my camera.Time
The photo was taken during the winter season around 8:00pm EST. Not that this matter since the image was captured inside a community center; however, had it not been for the cold season, the party would have been held in someone's backyard.Lighting
The lighted sconces created patterns against one dark wall inside the community center. All the other walls were brightly lit by the overhead lighting with the exception of this one wall. There were a total of four light sconces on this wall with each creating an image; however, this particular light sconce created an image of a bird in flight. It was so lovely that I had to immortalize it with a photo.Equipment
This was shot with a Sony DSC camera purchased back in 2008. Unfortunately, I do not recall the actual model as I have given this point-and-shoot camera to my father who loved the rich colors of the images this camera produces.Inspiration
My dislike for parties and large crowds forces me to distance my self from the events and allows me to observe my surroundings. Out of boredom, I decided to survey the area and came across the lovely patterns created by these light sconces against the dark wall. I never seen anything like it. So, I took the photo.Editing
This was a digital image captured as is. No post-processing was required. Photoshop is a skillset that I do not possess and do not have the time to learn. So, all my photos are images are captured and posted as-is.In my camera bag
Depending on the photo projects I am involved in, my equipment varies from telephoto lenses to specialized film cameras that provide vignetting or dream-like visuals.Feedback
Keep your eyes open for images that no one else notice or do not see. There were many people in this party and no one noticed the image against this wall.
