Location
At the crab-fishing dock in my town. The seal's name is Lucy and is quite well-known to the crab-fishers. My brother was lucky enough to feed her that day.Time
This was taken probably mid-afternoon. My brother and I were walking along the waterfront and had been going to the crab dock quite often that summer. I'd gotten several shots of Lucy before, but none like this.Lighting
This one was an in-the-moment shot, so I didn't have much time to think about the overall composition or other specific elements beforehand. I'm glad I came out with this shot though.Equipment

When capturing these types of photos, the only thing you can really try to do is to be ready for it. Have your camera out, ready to capture. These are spur-of-the-moment shots and you don't get a lot of preparation time. You can only be ready for it.
