Incredible lighting and spiral formation in the rock. Absolutely incredible. Love it.

Location
This photo was taken near Page Arizona in Antelope Canyon. It was a side trip from a Route 66 trek with my brother.Time
This was taken about 8 am. We were in the first group of a guided tour. Luckily, our guide was a photographer and made sure that we got some photos before all of the rest of the tour got there.Lighting
Although we were in a slot canyon, we still wanted the morning light.Equipment
The photo was shot with a Nikon D700 at ISO 2000, Aperture f4.0, and shutter 1/50. No flash was used. And due to the short amount of time, no tripod was used.Inspiration
I had seen photos that my brother took on an earlier trip to Page AZ. The beauty and patterns of the canyons were so amazing that I had to buy a new lens and go there.Editing
Yes, I used Lightroom to bring out the shadows, color, and patterns. In my camera bag
I have recently moved to a Nikon D800 with a Nikor 28-300 mm lens -- and of course lots of batteries and chips.Feedback
Page AZ is home to many spectacular slot canyons. Plan on a few days to see a number of different canyons. The canyons are on Native American land and require tours. There are many private tours with maximums of 6 participants which is perfect for photographers. You have a lot of time, can set up tripods, use many lenses. You are not required to stay with a group. Some of the canyons require some hiking to get to them so be sure to check out how much climbing is required and how rugged it is.
