Behind The Lens

Location

Along the Rappahannock River in Warsaw Virginia. I had just gotten my Sigma 50-500mm so I was excited about the chance to take some closer eagle shots.

Time

It was early in the morning. I had just seen some eagles flying along the river so I was tracking their direction. I was walking along a quiet area along the river. My head was up in the sky when I came around a bend and movement caught my attention and this litlle guy/girl popped out of a hole. i think both of us were shocked and momentarily looked at each other before i realized to start taking pictures.

Lighting

The lighting was perfect . No shadows ot anything difficult to deal with. just my new friend and my friezy to get pictures before he left.

Equipment

I was carrying my Pentax K5 and my new sigma Bigma 50-500mm. I was new to the weight but I was able to handhold it with the adeneline from seeing this beautful animal.

Inspiration

Inspiration was getting a picture of a wild fox. Everythime you have a first for anything it is such a wonderful feeling. at first i was disappointed because I never saw the eagles that day but my husnabd reminded me that i would see many more eagles but may never see another fox in the wild. He was right. It has been several years and I have not see another fox.

Editing

No special process was required. the lighting was perfect so i was very lucky to get a beautiful shot.

In my camera bag

When i am walking along the river i only carry a camera and lens since any wild animals require immediate attention and no time to deal with changing anything. I also shot in jpg but probably should have been doing raw but I was just lucky that everything turned out so well.

Feedback

This was just being in the rightplace at the right time with the right equipment. It usually is the opposite. you put your camera away and something wild just sits in front of you tormenting you over the fact that you left your camera behind. They seem to know this. In the fox's case we never saw each other coming which is why it was so special.
