Location
This pic was taken just a few meters from my house. I live in the countryside so there is no shortage of woodland and beautiful scenery. Just by my house there is a small patch of trees. I'm guessing there is an old military shelter there as there is a suspicious looking slab of concrete with what looks like an access hatch a few feet away. One day I'll be brave enough to have a look down there... maybe lol.Time
It was a gorgeous summers day, mid morning with the sun high in the sky. We found a circle of trees and bushes that had a clearing in the center which was perfect with the light shining through the leaves.Lighting
I wanted the sun to be bright in the background, shining through the leaves but to do this meant the model was very dark. To combat this I had a speedlite set up remotely on the floor in front of me to provide some light on the subject.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon 600D with an EF 24-105mm 1:4 lens. The speedlite was a Canon 550EX and was controlled using a Pixel Soldier.Inspiration
I've always been a huge comic Nerd and I love poison ivy. I stumbled upon the models portfolio and thought she would be perfect for a shoot like this and after she said she would lo e to shoot it, my wife and I got busy making the costume and killer plant.Editing
this did require a little post processing but not too much. A little cropping and brightening up but that was it really. In my camera bag
I pretty much have just the camera, lens and speedlite already mentioned in my bag. I always have a bottle of coke too. That is essential lol.Feedback
Awesome locations can pop up anywhere. If you were to see this location more fully it really doesn't look like anything amazing but upon closer inspection we found this circular clearing with the light coming through a gap in the trees at the back perfectly. Also making your own costumes and probs is tremendous fun and gives you a huge sense of satisfaction when the end result comes out just right.
