Location
THe photo was taken while visiting New York, while sitting inside a New York cab! I'm a self taught photographer.Time
It was mid morning, we were sight seeing, but the rain started to come down heavily. We jumped into a cab, but were stuck in the traffic. I loved the distorted view, throughout he window of the cab, with the heavy rain and wanted to capture that image. As the yellow cab is so iconic, i really wanted to have the image out of focus, so that the obvious colour and shape of the cab was the "focus" of the image. The rain on the window added to the distortion and the way the light played on the image.Lighting
There was more a "lack" of light, the heavy rain and dark clouds creating a more moody effect.Equipment
No additional equipment was used, just my camera!Inspiration
I was hoping to take lots of photos that day, but the weather kept us from exploring on foot. Once we were in the cab, i quite enjoyed what i was seeing from the window and took quite a few photos, but this one really captured the feel of the day and I just love the New York cabs!Editing
Minimal post production was applied to this photo. I was experimenting with colour and shapes, and purposefully keeping my photos out of focus that day!In my camera bag
Just my Canon 5D markII - with the 24-70 lens. More than that weighs down my bag, and with 2 kids to watch over and an impatient husband, its hard to allow myself time to be fussed with any extra equipment.Feedback
Look for iconic shapes that people can identify, even thought not in focus. Getting the "focus" (set on manual!) just right to get the blur how you want, but still captures the feeling.
