Ka Ulu a Paoa Heiau is an ancient site which is sacred to the Hawaiian people and culture. It is believed to be the place where hula was born. The Ka Ulu a Paoa Heiau is off-limits to the public-tourists, so we felt very privileged to watch family and friends perform this tradition of sacred dance, chanting and prayer; truly a magical and humbling afternoon in Kauai.
