Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo in my small hometown in Illinois. My mother use to cross this footbridge when she was a young teenager and it has since been restored. I am a beginner and love to photograph nature.Time
After spending time with my youngest daughter throwing rocks into a nearby stream, we decided to go across town to see if the old footbridge had any water under it. Unfortunately it was mostly dry but the texture of the wood was beautiful.Lighting
Late afternoon cast a beautiful shadow from the railing onto the floor of the bridge and the contrast of the wood and shadow allowed me to use the natural lighting.Equipment
I used my Canon Rebel T3i with the 15-55mm lens to take this photo with an ultraviolet filter for protection . My tripod was the floor of the bridge.Inspiration
I love looking at things from many different angles and down low always gives me something interesting.Editing
Leaving this photo alone was an easy decision, I felt the wood grain and shadows along with the beautiful blue sky was enough. In my camera bag
I don't have a big variety of equipment so my bag consists of a 55-250 mm lens with an extra SD card along with a lens cleaner.Feedback
As I am learning with every photo I take I guess the only advice I have is to never overlook the simple things and to try to see your surroundings in new ways.
