Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my garden. In Hervey Baay Queensland

Time

I took this shot mid morning which for this shot was a good time as the trees above provided good shade. They also add some great highlights due to the shadows on the flowers.

Lighting

As above i had been watching what time the light was the best in the garden and tried taking shots from dawn till dusk but mid morning gave me the best shadows and highlights in this part of my garden.

Equipment

the gear i used.! Was my D3200 nikon DSLR with a Sigma 70-300 dg macro lens. on a tripod for extra stability for taking macros. the wind was very light this day so it suited tripod work. No flash on this shot as when i did it lost the highlights of the suns shadows on the flower.

Inspiration

This shot was taken as the flowers were out in bloom and caught my eye for a great shot. i did take quite a few shots at all different time of day. but this is when i found the best light to really make the shot pop.

Editing

With post work all i did was pull the highlights out in lightroom 5 and add the border and watermark and convert from raw to jpeg

In my camera bag

Im my bag there is my Nikon 810, a nikor 50mm 1.8G lens, a Sigma 70-200.2.8, Tamron 24-70-2.8, yangyong flash, CPL filers,ND16 gradient ND400, UV filters, 2 cf cards, 2 sd cards, 4 batteries, cleaning gear, ipad, battery charger, If i am out on a full day shoot or a portrait shoot i'll put my D3200 in as a back up along with a Nikor 50-1.8D, Sigma 70-300 dg macro, another flash, mono pod 2 tripods pen and notepad to Wright on if ipad goes down

Feedback

Never stop learning and practising. I am a self taught photographer and i am constantly trying to learn more and more to gain a better understanding of what i am doing. and practising everything i learn over and over to make sure i can do it with out thinking about it to much. Also been always ready to head out for what ever might arise that interests you as time wont wait for you to get ready
