i took the flower in a backyard of one of the houses i lived in for a while, in san miguel de allende, mexico. it was sunflower that i grew, i grow sunflowers every year.Time
i think it was probably between 1 and 3 in the afternoon,Lighting
not much to share about the lighting...it was on a hazy day with some sun.Equipment
i used a sony alpha camera. with 70-300 lens, no tripod, no flash. hand heldInspiration
when i saw the pedals of this flower, and how it looked.. i knew it was something special and different.. what i thought were at least 20 shots of the flower, and even more.. in my memory but as always not enough shots..Editing
yes i used a photo editing program, which i bought about a year later.. before i had this program i was just editing with one of the painter programs..but the program really was/is good that it is easy to work with and i can tweak things the way i like to..to get at what is in my mind. i use a lot of layers, also this a composite.. the hummingbird i shot from another picture, in the same yard.. and the program allowed me to put it in there seamlessly.. then i tweaked the back ground a bit, and used various photo paint programs lightly for some light texture. and i deepened the yellows, greens, and added some orange into areas. In my camera bag
i keep it simple, just my camera , and a few extra batteriesFeedback
when ever i shoot anything , i want the picture to look like it would if i painted what i am looking at.. when i use a camera i , i look at the subject and what is behind it, to get a feel of how would it be if i painted that, if it looks like a painting to me then i hit the trigger..i have always liked to draw and paint. but have been somewhat impatient using a real brush.. with the programs they have nowadays... it makes it easier to paint on a computer without using ,smelling the real paints. saving lots of money material, i take a handful of computer photo painting/editing programs i like and have. like a pallete.. and create make layers and make something out of nothing....you would be surprised if you saw the raw images i took of the flower and how it ended up to be this.
