Location
This photo was taken in a place called "Capo Colonna" in the city of Crotone. This place haven't so much light, maybe a little bit, but it's enough dark to taken astro photos.Time
I was bored at home when I saw that the sky was clear and a lot of star was visibile from my home. So I called two of my friends, and i drove to the outskirts of the city finding a dark place to shot the milky way. At the 11.00 PM I found tha place, and i taken this photo.Lighting
There's no mistery about lighting. I use a kit lens because before I haven't a better lens, and the natural light of stars.Equipment
I use a Nikkor 18-105mm kit lens (because i hadn't a wide angle lens brighter). My usual camera is a Nikon D5100. My tripod is a Manfrotto MK-394 series.Inspiration

I used 12 shots joined manually with photoshop to enhance the star light and 5 dark frame to remove some noise.In my camera bag
I have few lens. So i bring with me all if I'm in my car, or i bring only 2 lens at time when i walk to search an inspiration.Feedback
Use a software to find a milky way as skygazer. Use an app for smartphone for find milky way in place. Bring with you any wide angle brighter. And use the 600 rule if you are in a higher place, or 500 rule if you are in a place with sea like me. 500 rule: 500/ (focal length * crop factor if you use APS-C sensor) = Max. shutter speed to use.
