Location
This photo was taken in a local essex studio, which was my first creative lighting workshop.Time
This was taken in the evening, i had been looking forward to trying out some light techniques all day, so many ideas went through my mind, some great and creative and now i come to think of it some just plain crazy.Lighting
the lighting setup went from 1 bowens studio flash at the start of the workshop, to 1, fres modelling light 2 x bowens studio flashes and a lasolight huge pop up background, with a couple of low power soft boxes, and with some tweaking i ended up with this shot!Equipment
i shot this with my trusty second hand Nikon D5100 and the non VR kit lens, i used a pocket wizzard as a trigger.Inspiration
i was inspired by the desire to get a kind of vintage feel to the shoot black and white smooth skin etc, but this was my first ever studio shoot, with any serious equipment, i was so nervous, i mean i was directing paid models and i didn't have a massive knowledge on the technical side of things. But i feel that this image displays what i has envisioned in my mind on the way to the shoot.Editing
i did some very small adjustments in Lightroom, tiny exposure and some highlights and shadows but being in a studio the images needed very little post processing. In my camera bag
In my bag is a Nikon D5100, 2 spare batteries, Nikon 18-55 5.6, Nikon 50mm 1.8 Prime, Sigma 70-300 5.6 macro, loads of SD cards, remote shutter release, SB700 flash a bottle of water and a few biccy'sFeedback
the best advice i can give is to experiment, i know photography has certain guidelines but these are there to be stretched and contorted, the photographer has a vision and if you can achieve that by hanging lights form the ceiling then go for it, the only limit you can face is your creativeness. Push the boundaries, you might surprise yourself.
