This insect is called a Hover Fly they exist in many countries. They do look similar to bees and it can be difficult to identify many insects in our environment. This guy is quite common around gardens with flowers. They also fly and hover in the sun hence their name. Thankyou for your interest and delightful comments - much appreciated.

I took this photo in my garden.Time

The light from the morning sun was low and gently filtering through the shrubs creating the perfect place for the Hover Fly to land.Equipment
I used a SONY SLT A77 with a Tamron 90mm macro lens. Handheld, no flash.Inspiration
My inspiration comes from discovering the tiny creatures in our envirnoment often overlooked by the naked eye -using a macro lens opened up a whole new world for me.Editing
Depending on the quality of the image. Generally I will tweak exposure, contrast if necessary, saturation and sharpening.In my camera bag
One camera, 900mm macro lens, 200mm zoom lens, wide angle lens (depending on the location and the genre of photography), flash.Feedback
Should you wish to succeed with a sharp macro the best way is to us a tripod. For me this does not work with bugs as they are spontaneous. If you are able to use a flash or create more lighting using a small reflector this can be of assistance. Good lighting together with a steady camera is necessary for a sharp and detailed capture.
