Location
This photo was taken in Brooklyn New York. Whilst just starting off as a photographer I was always intrigued by sunrise and sunset and this moment was the highlight of what started to be a journey I love more and more each dayTime
Sunset is always my favorite time of the afternoon. I remember getting to the bottom end of Brooklyn, close to the Brooklyn Bridge around 4pm and started setting up. I started to take a few pictures to get my composition of the Manhattan skyline and to make adjustments to the camera settings, when a turned to my left and noticed a tree beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. I immediately thought that it would be great to have this in my shot with the American flag at the pinnacle of the bridge. With a little patience and capturing a few shots, this was one of my favoritesLighting
I love trying to get as much from Natural light as possible and with the sunset creating such a beautiful atmosphere I captured this with no additional lighting.Equipment
Here I used a Sony Alpha a77 DSLR Camera with 16-50mm f/2.8 DT Lens Kit. I did not use a tripod for this pictureInspiration
Every sunset is unique and the beauty of it always intrigues me. When I got to Brooklyn Bridge with the hope of getting a great Manhattan Skyline, I was blown away what the sky looked like over the bridge and thought "I would love to have a photo of this"Editing
I shot this in Raw and post processed in Lightroom. Getting the exposure and contrast right was critical in this image, followed by slightly adjusting the HSL.In my camera bag
I use the Sony A99 body and my camera bag always has two very important lens - the Sony 85mm F2.8 and the Sony 28-75mm kitt lens along with my cameras "best friend." - the Sony tripod. I also carry along a Polarizing and a variable ND filter.Feedback
Never be afraid to shoot, be creative and always look for something that is unique, something that you dont see in every image. Patience is a must and always remember that to yur left and right, there may be an image that you can capture that is worth a thousand words....so look around. Research - do a lot of research about what you want to capture and then be creative....Finally go out and do what you love to do.
