This aging woman is grinding chili to make chili paste to sell to at the Sunday Market in southern Thailand, taken in February of 2012. Her facial expression and the irony that she probably needs much of her food mashed too is what fascinates me about this picture. Not to mention that, as she is hard at work, the men on the island are all attending a bird singing contest.
