I was lucky enough to witness this young Barred Owl practicing its flying skills. This is basically the first time I have seen one of these juvenile owls do much of anything except sleep. The owl spent most of his time walking around with its wings stretched out, but in this capture it jumped from one tree to another and flapped its wings several times. Unfortunately because of the dim lighting there is a bit of motion blur, however the head and feet are very sharp.
