5 weeks after Hurricane Sandy I finally made my way to Union Beach. The clean up continues but still looks like a war zone. This house on Front st. is only yards from the shore line. When hurricane Sandy hit the town of Union Beach, NJ Oct 29, it totally destroyed 110 homes and heavily damaged 500 more. 705 Front street once called the Princess Cottage has been here since 1855 and battled years of strong hurricanes. It finally lost to the 12 ft. surge of Hurricane Sandy. The owner says he will rebuild. Before I captured this image, I stood there in ah to the devastation to the town of Union Beach.

Hi Wayne
One of my friend own the website www.Getinthevan.com they are a bunch of surfers travelling around the world and when sandy came they rushed in NJ to help and this is what they shot. it's a nice video that shows the devastation with interviews from the local, enjoy and let me know what you think.

I keep coming back to this capture, Wayne. I like it in black and white a lot. It shows so much, and you just wonder how much time would it take for the roof to take the house down with its weight. I read somewhere that the house was demolished soon after you took this picture.

Awesome is the power of nature, but not as awesome as the power of the human spirit. Great capture.
