Location
I took this photo in the apartment of a friend of mine, she is the model on this photo. It's a very small apartment, it's got only 2 rooms, but it was a killer for photo shoots. The image was shot in front of a big window, it's right behind her back.Time
It was around noon, or maybe late morning when we did this photo. The main idea was to take some "boudoir meets girls at home" type of photos.Lighting
We did test different parts of the apartment to shoot, but somehow I love shooting backlit photos, I wanted the background blown out. If I remember well, there was a white reflector, to try and return a little light at her. I could have closed the aperture a little, to separate her a little bit more from the window, but somehow I love the way it turned out.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D300 with Nikkor AF-S 35mm 1.8G DX, handheld at 1/50 sec, f/2.5 at ISO 400, and there was a white reflector in front of her, to get back some light from the window at her.Inspiration
What inspired me, was a woman's shapes, the curves of the body, even tough she wore that shirt and it's not that visible. She was recovering from a divorce and she needed something to happen, someone to tell her "Hey, you're beautiful, you're sexy... you rock, girl!!!" And those pictures we did with her, did it, she was enjoying herself again, she felt strong, beautiful and sexy again.Editing
I did some post processing on the picture, it was done in Photoshop, I was trying to capture that "film" look from back in the days. That's what I love, the colors, the matte..the vintage look.In my camera bag
Mostly in my bag I have prime lenses, I own a Nikon D300 and my lenses are 35mm and 50mm 1.8G, Tamron 90mm 2.8 1:1 Macro, I've got a Nikon and a Metz speedlites which I use very seldom, and I also carry my good old 5 in 1 reflector, 90x120 cm, which I prefer to use when I can.Feedback
For all the other guys who have passion for boudoir or girls at home photography, I can say, try to capture the beauty in a woman, it's in there.. inside. You don't always need a super model in order to have a perfect shot, you just need to know light, know your gear and have passion to photograph. The gear is not always that important, if you're able to capture the smile, the sexiness, the beauty of a woman, no one will care if there is any noise in the picture. Try to capture the emotion, the atmosphere... if you can capture in an image how a woman feels, you've nailed it!
