DuskLighting
Trying to avoid using any sort of flash and relying on natural light to create a striking image.Equipment
Nikon d40 with stock lens, nothing fancy or special, just trusting my instinct using my cameras manual settings.Inspiration
The scene reminded me of something far more exotic than the Uk. What looks like trees in the savannah is actually a gorse bush at sunset. Changing the angle from which I normally shoot at really made all the difference to this shot.Editing
The only editing done on this photo was to remove a spot that is caused by a spec of dirt in my camara body/ lens. No editing was used to alter the colours. In my camera bag
I usually carry my camara body with stock lens attached, a shallow depth of field lens which I'm having great fun doing portraits with, a telephoto lens mainly for shooting wildlife, a flash gun, lens cleaning cloth, remote trigger, several memory cards a microfibre cloth and a tripod.Feedback
The only thing I did with this photo was step out of my comfort zone, not relying on auto settings was the first thing, trusting my own judgement and getting into a different position and changing the angle of the shoot. I'm really terrible at sticking to what I know, this photo for me proves that you can get great results if you push yourself that little bit further.
