This Clark's Anemonefish was as curious about me as I was him. We were cruising on our boat "Special Blend" in the Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands. We were snorkeling just off Shull Island from our dingy!Time
It was afternoon, our last snorkel for the day.Lighting
The water is so clear, the coral reefs are shallow, and having the sun at a slight angle. I got lucky!Equipment
For the "Hand of Neptune" I used the Olympus uT8000.Inspiration
Every time I am in the water I look for something different, the obvious, a new fish. This time it was a nice tall piece of coral and a single fish. Did not realize until I saw it on the computer it looked like a hand.Editing
Cropped a bit, adjusted the tone and contrast. Most of the time I de-noise and sharpen. Punched the colors slightlyIn my camera bag
My go to is my d610, back up d600. Nikon 24-85 Nikor 70-300, Sigma 150-600 S, Tamron 10-24, Nikor 50mm1.8 Enduro tripod with gimbal head, Nikon Speedflash SB 910 & a Better BeamerFeedback
For under water snorkel images you need to be a confident swimmer, with good breath control. If your up and down you'll never get the shot. Practice, practice, practice, lot of water time. 4 years cruising the South Pacific was a huge plus, being in clear water without a lot of currant was truly a bonus!! Try it, it's fun and addictive
