Location
This photo was taken at my house, which is in a rural area. I am surrounded by natural beauty and an abundance of opportunities for natural beauty. I am, basically, a self-taught photographer and my photographs are a result of trial and error.Time
I took this photo during the summer just before complete darkness fell. I am blessed to live in an area that provides beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The area experiences the full gamut of seasonal changes, providing great opportunities for beautiful photographs of natural landscapes.Lighting
Landscape or natural scenery pictures are best photographed with natural lighting without the use of a flash. This creates the best nuances and contrast in colors and lighting hues.Equipment
I took this photo with a Nikon Coolpix P520, on the auto setting, no flash, which is rather amazing for me. Most of the time, the camera finds the perfect setting for natural light pictures. This was a handheld picture.Inspiration
I spend a lot of time outdoors, enjoying the scenery and animals around my house. I tend to snap lots of pictures of the surrounding landscape at different times of the day and night. This particular summer night had the most beautiful lighting, a combination of lights and darks, and I wanted to try to capture the colors and hues.Editing
I tried enhancing the photo and found that the original pictures captured the contrasting lights and darks better than any adjustments that I tried.In my camera bag
I have a DSL, but have abandoned it for my Nikon Coolpix P520 with 45x zoom. This camera produces excellent photos and has a wide variety of settings to accommodate my needs. In my bag I carry my Nikon, 2 extra batteries, a charger, and lens cleaning wipes. Just the necessities as I want to travel light.Feedback
Always have your camera nearby, especially if you live or are in rural areas. These settings provide an abundance of different photo opportunities. Early morning and late afternoon/evening provide the best times for capturing beautiful contrasts in natural lighting. For me, the country just seems to provide the most beautiful scenery and the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises..
