This photo was token by a canal right near my backyard. My favorite sunsets seemed to always come from home, and it case your wondering I shot this in Ripon, California.Time
I shot this around 7:15. At the time it had become a routine to walk down to the canal and either admire the sunset or capture a picture of it.Lighting
It's all nature beauty, I just framed the shot and hoped for a good outcome.Equipment
It may seem surprising but I used an Ipod, this was before i even got my DSLR and was using my Ipod touch to capture photographs. I'm extremely happy with how my photos turn out through the Ipod but eventually I got a camera where i could control mostly everything about the photograph, i.e. aperture, shutter speed, the whole logistics of a photo.Inspiration
Personally i prefer sunsets over sunrises. I'm always a sucker for them and i couldn't help but try and capture how amazing the clouds looked.Editing
I did a little bit in an app called PhotoStudio on my phone. Pretty much all i did was the symmetrical horizontal edit and that's roughly all i did to this image. In my camera bag
When i shot this all i had was my Ipod. Now that i had a digitally camera I always have my Nikon D5300 with my 35mm prime lens. Honestly that's the lens that i use 99% of the time. I really love the angle that I'm able to shoot with it.Feedback
Just keep going out and doing what you love. Sometimes you can get that good shot and for me it's all practice, in turn you can only get better. What you capture should mean something to you, it can't just be a frame and click kind of shot. I want my photographs to be something to me, bring back memories, feelings and if I'm able to stir something up in someone else from my photography then that's awesome it's what I want to do. In the end though I only photograph to satisfy myself and i feel that's what photography should be it needs to be for you.
