Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Westminster, Colorado. I live in a development that has some lovely areas within. It was taken after a snow storm that left a lot of snow in it's path. I put my boots on a walked through knee level snow to get some greats shots. It was so worth it!! One of my shots is hanging on my wall. It was the first time I did my own framing. I am very proud of the snow scene.

Time

This shot was taken in the late afternoon. It was an overcast day which really added to the photos.

Lighting

It was natural lighting. It was a gray day. The bright snow against the gray day made the trees stand out.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D5300, lens 18-55. That is the only equipment I used.

Inspiration

After the snow storm the trees were coated with snow and ice. I could not resist bundling up and looking for great shots. Nothing more beautiful then trees after a snow storm. I find it very soothing looking at landscapes. It excites me when I discover an area to shoot.

Editing

I use lightroom. I did not do much to this shot. I did brighten it up. But I did not want to take away from the gray day which added a lot to the photo. I like the color of the bark against the snow.

In my camera bag

I really do not carry that much in my bag. My Nikon D5300 camera, 18-55mm lens, Tamron 90mm Macro lens and Tamron 10-24mm lens. I always have an extra battery and memory card. Pad and pencil can also come in handy. I keep the cord to plug into my computer. I don't always have my computer but needed if I am traveling.

Feedback

I love to shoot nature and landscapes. You can shoot a photo but when you go back in a different season it will be a whole different shot. I feel as photographers we see the world in a different light. Someone can walk by a leave on the ground and ignore it. But as a photographer we see the beauty in the leave. When you are shooting, shot taking different angles. You may be surprised when you look back at your pictures.
