The location. It's hard not to be inspired when everything around you looks like this :-)Editing
It's a HDR shot comprised of 3 images at -2, 0 and +2. Run through Photomatix, blended with base images in Photoshop CS4. Minor adjustments made using Topaz Adjust 4 and 5 then final noise reduction done using Noiseware. In my camera bag
These days? A Sony A7 with Sony 10-18mm f/4 wide angle lens, Sony 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, and my trusty Nikon 50mm f1.4g lens mated to a Metabones adapter for use on the A7. I still use the same Vanguard tripod.Feedback
In this sort of location, the photo itself is easy with a tripod to keep the camera steady. I like to keep photos like this symmetrical so I take time to make sure everything is perfectly in line. I find that a lot of the magic happens in post processing by using the above mentioned programs. In the end, it all comes down to practice. It took me about 3 years to learn the fine line between too much hdr-ness and just enough.
