After an October snowstorm, I grabbed my camera at dawn and set out to capture the interplay of opposites that occurs when life transitions from one season to the next. The storm, which fell when the leaves were still on the trees, caused a lot of damage and power outages, but juxtaposed with the negative impact on civilization was the astonishing beauty present in the natural world. My series, October Snow, is a study of complexities that mirror the destruction and beauty in the wake of the storm: light and shadow, life and death, and the passing of one season into the next.
