Location
Here in Auckland, New Zealand, there's very few places you can go where there's hardly any noise and there's almost no cellphone coverage. My mother owns this farm nestled in a little valley and last spring the blossoms on the plum trees were absolutely magnificent!Time
Morning, the sun was bright and the flowers were freshly sprung.Lighting
Basic daylight, morning sun rising behind me.Equipment
Canon EOS 550D, lens EFS 18-55mm with UV filter. No tripod.Inspiration
Just nature! There's only one time of year that these blossoms look so magnificent, a space of a few weeks where the petals haven't fallen. The bees were ravaging the pollen and the smells were just divine! I found this a perfect opportunity to practice focal points as the blossoms were everywhere.Editing
I didn't do anything to this particular photo as it was just so pretty. I have other photos where I've played with post-processing but this is virgin! In my camera bag
Polarising filter, fixed lens, lens hood and grey cards.Feedback
I spent a long time playing with focal points with a very low aperture, the effect is rather stunning. Being in the right place at the right time. Getting into places where you wouldn't normally go on your average walk around a farm orchard.
