Behind The Lens

Location

Taken at home on a glass topped dining table. I was experimenting with various off camera flash positions which, coupled with the glass top reflections, gave me this interesting lighting effect!

Time

As the photo was taken indoors with flash it could've been any time of day!

Lighting

Using flash off camera you can experiment with different lighting effects! It's one of the great pluses about digital photography where failures don't break the bank!

Equipment

I used a Canon EOS 50D on a tripod and varied the angle of the TTL enabled flashgun.

Inspiration

I have always been attracted to the shape, colour and texture of these peppers. They're good to eat too!

Editing

Not really in those days I subscribed to the 'KISS' method! (keep it simple stupid!)

In my camera bag

Since suffering a major stroke in 2014 I have simplified my equipment selection. Gone are the 300mm F4 which I loved and now I have Canon's 24-105 L lens, 100mm L macro and a 200mm f2.8 L for wildlife etc. Oh I nearly forgot my super wide angle Samyang 14mm f2.8 and a Canon X1.4 extender. I've invested in a lovely Canon 5DS body and as you may have guessed I love my primes! They're lighter and easier to manage with one hand (my disability) and give generally better quality results....

Feedback

Try different experimental techniques, take advantage of the freedom that digital photography gives us all.
