This was a special moment I had the honor of witnessing .. With just a glass to seperate them, the ape stole sneak peeks at the other creature looking at him. He paced back and forth keeping his distance. The little girl seemed to know only silence and sitting still would entice him. She waited patiently, sitting as still as she could, until he could no longer resist her charm. She gently put her hand on the glass and as if she was part of his world, he took a seat beside her. Neither moved... just sat quietly looking and wondering about the other one.

This photo speaks a thousand words and isn't that what is all about? You wonder where this poor fellow's thoughts are...to me he seems to be longing for attention, friendship perhaps, and does not quite understand the clear barrier that confines him. The little girl's refection shows her concern about that far away lonely look in his eyes. Beautiful shot, very emotional.

Very emotional photo and well done, but don't agree with subjects. I don't agree, certainly no disrespect, with Cathleen's comment "The little girl's refection shows her concern about that far away lonely look in his eyes..." That poor animal is there to be 'toyed with', by countless children who will treat him/her as nothing more than a cuddly toy. But the photographers skill in capturing emotion is good.

And... It's been taken through a 'glass cage' - another sad primate being mocked! Sorry, but I do feel strongly about this. The animal is clearly distressed.
