Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my house in San Salvador, El Salvador, was a quick photo shoot with my lovely friend Mabel.

Time

As I remember we did this picture about 4 or 6pm, in that day, we did few concepts, was an amazing shoot with her, because she has an exotic and unique beauty and an amazing and natural skill for modeling, she loves the camera... oh yeah!

Lighting

She has been my best ever model and we are a good friends. Thanks God for this woman! :)

Equipment

I used for this shoot a Pentax K20D, Pentax 50mm f1.4 (amazing lens) and Amvona strobe head with a medium square softbox.

Inspiration

Well, honestly with didn't have any inspiration to get this concept done, she wanted to do something different and sexy and she brought a lot of props, so we got the idea in the right moment.

Editing

Yes, I did a post-processing, using Photoshop. I just adjusted the light a little bit, fix the white balance and retouch her skin with frequency separation and Portraiture plugin.

In my camera bag

Really? this will take a lot to explain haha... well, now... I have a Lowepro Roller x300 it means I have a lot into that bag. Well, let's start, I have my Canon 7D, Canon 6D, my Sigma 70-200mm f2.8, Sigma 50mm f1.4, Flash: 1 Canon 580ex II, 1 Mago Speedlite, 2 Neewer TT850, 1 Cheetah light CL-360, trigger kit, Light meter, 2 battery expansion pack, filters, etc...etc..etc..

Feedback

One of the main advices is that you need a connection with the model, because she needs to feel very comfortable with the photographer, in that way the model will give us her best (poses, expressions, everything) also, try to play with the light a lot, I mean, we need a lot of practice and don't be shy to ask to the model for specific pose or expression, because you have the vision, you have the idea, you know what you want and they know and trust in your vision and creativity. You are the artist and they are our muses. Note: Thanks and sorry for my English.
