Behind The Lens

Location

In San Diego, we were walking along a board walk by the water to see the shorebirds, and this little guy was just sitting there waiting to have his portrait immortalized.

Time

I think it was kinda late morning, just natural daylight.

Lighting

It was a fabulous day and I just used the natural light that was available.

Equipment

I had my new Sony nex6, hand held and on the automatic setting. I got it for Christmas and this was a decoy show that we went to San Diego for in Febuary, and I had not learned how to use the settings yet, but I did have my telephoto lens on. And no flash as I find it harsh sometimes, but I am learning

Inspiration

Who could walk by that little sparrow sitting in a NO PARKING Zone!!!!!! It almost took itself!

Editing

No, I think I cropped it a little bit. But I believe the photo should be what you take not how good you are on the computer. You could also read that I do not know how, but I do believe you should stay as true as possible.

In my camera bag

I keep it ready to go at the drop of a hat! I have the Sony Nex 6 with the wide angle kit lens that came with it. Then I got the next Sony A6000 and I keep it set up with the telephoto lens. Extra battery, extra SD cards cause I never know where to quit or when, usually when it gets dark and I have to go home:(. Also a small table top tripod the falls over a lot so I really should take it out. And the small cloth for wiping the lens. I am really a novice, so let me know if I need to get something else!

Feedback

Keep your eyes open, get out as often as you can and I never put the lens caps on the lens, I use the little piece of glass you screw to the front, I think they are cheap enough to replace if scratched, whereas I have missed many good photos because of that little black circle. Also I leave the cammeras set up and on automatic so you don't miss that one good shot. And I take 1000's of photo's, I love nature rocks, clouds, trees with light in them, SUNSETS...........there is always something that needs to be immortalized, and shared, then we all get to love it! Thanks for liking my photo.
