Kanjoor Church

St.Mary’s Forane Church, Kanjoor is one of the ancient catholic churches in Kerala. Consecrated in the year AD 1001, this church is portrayed as the symbol of the strong Christian faith and the spiritual renaissance of Kanjoor in the beginning of the last millennium. Situated along the Kalady-Aluva Road, this church is a combination of Indian architecture, Persian design and Portuguese artistry; an epic in the style of Catholic Church construction. Ancient sculptures and paintings using a mixture of fruit pulp, the juices of rare plant leaves and gold dust adorn the sanctum sanctorum of this ancient church.
