I took this picture in a garden close to my home in Columbia. MD.Time
It was a summer day. The time was around late afternoon.Lighting
The shrub was under the shade of a bigger tree. So, I had to use my macro flash unit. I used manual setting for the exposure with compensatory flash exposure setting.Equipment
I used my canon T2i with a 100mm macro lens. I took the picture with the camera on a tripod. The macro flash unit was a generic one.Inspiration
I am fascinated by the inner beauty of the insect world. I always get amazed after each time I take a picture of a new insect and then download the picture on the computer and look at it on the big screen. It is really mind boggling to find out that there are could be so much intricate details in small things.Editing
Minimal post-processing except for some contrast and soft sharpening. I used adobe photoshop for that purpose. In my camera bag
Canon T2i or 7D. When I am taking macro pictures I usually carry both my 100 mm and 180 mm macro lenses. Then of course I have my flash unit too.Feedback
Patience! Patience! and more Patience! You have to be extremely patient when taking pictures of insect. It might take you several attempts before you might be able to get a picture where the fly did not fly away or the bug did not move from its original position. You just have to keep on trying until you are able to get close to the insect and click the shutter. Hopefully, it will be the perfect shot.
