This is one of my all-time favorite photos, which was taken at the Singapore Botanical Gardens, under one of the more matured trees as I find the brown-green color tones will blend naturally well with my talent's brown dress as we were experimenting towards an "Elemental Nature" theme.Time
This photo was taken roughly late morning at around 11:00am. I still remembered though we both woke up pretty early for the shoot, it took us some time to affirm the next suitable attire plus the makeup and preparations on the talent's end. But I think we were very happy that after shooting a little here and there, we managed to get the perfect mood and lighting for this shot.Lighting
The ambient light didn't really affect much for this shot as we were under the cover of the huge shade under this very old tree. The talent was lit up by two remote flashes with shoot-thru umbrellas to give that soft shade of lighting.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 5DM3 with a 70-200mm f2.8 II lens at 90mm handheld. I have used 2x Canon 600ex-rt connected wirelessly with mounted shoot-thru umbrellas, one as a key and the other as a fill light.Inspiration
The talent and myself were both friends and we were embarking on this photoshoot project to explore an "Elemental Nature" theme. Given that I only managed to see the actual color of the attire and additional decorative items brought by the talent on the day itself, there was a lot of "trial and error", to find the right backdrop to blend the dressing with the background, before arranging the right mood and pose for the shot.Editing
I usually love to add a vibrant color tone to my photos to help them stand out. However, the photo itself was well lit and the overall mood and tone felt very calm and light-hearted, so I decided to do very minimal touch-ups on the shot to allow the work to stand by itself. In my camera bag
It really depends on the occasion that I am heading to and is there a potential gathering I'm heading to or just out exploring photography. If I'm out exploring, I would usually bring a mix of 3 standard lenses namely my 16-35mm, 50mm and 70-200mm lens, and a Speedlite, so I can explore freely and not be limited by what I do not have with me.Feedback
I guess my best advice is to work closely with your talent and the sharing of ideas will help spark different shooting concepts. Sometimes, you do not need the best of equipment to capture the best of photographs. ;)
